Mughal Sarai Station officially renamed as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction

GUWAHATI: The Mughal Sarai Railway Station was officially renamed as the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction on Monday.

The Mughal Sarai Junction was set up by the British Regime in the 1800s as a key station linking New Delhi to Kolkata.

The junction, fourth busiest railway station in the country, is located on the main Howrah-Delhi Grand Chord line.

The proposal was given by the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh in 2017, in a bid to revive the legacy of Upadhyay, who was found dead in 1968 at this junction under mysterious circumstances.
