Set in the opulent Royal Delhi Club, the film opens with the mysterious death of Leo Mathews, a beloved employee of the club. What initially appears to be a freak accident soon reveals itself to be a carefully planned murder, sending shockwaves through the club's elitist patrons.

The suspects are aplenty, ranging from fading divas to blue-blooded aristocrats. With characters like Shehnaz Noorani (Karishma Kapoor), Cookie Katoch (Dimple Kapadia), and Rannvijay (Sanjay Kapoor) in the mix, each with their own motives and secrets, the plot thickens with every passing minute. And let's not forget the quirky supporting cast, including the wildly cackling socialite Roshni Batra (Tisca Chopra) and the trusty valet Guppie (Brijendra Kala), adding layers of intrigue to the mystery.

Enter ACP Bhavani Singh, portrayed with impeccable finesse by the ever-talented Pankaj Tripathi. With his keen eye for detail and razor-sharp wit, Bhavani delves into the murky world of the club's high society, uncovering scandals and unearthing clues along the way. But as the investigation unfolds, it becomes clear that nothing is as it seems, and everyone is a suspect.

Gazal Dhaliwal and Suprotim Sengupta's screenplay keeps the audience guessing, with twists and turns at every corner. From the workers placing bets on the killer's identity to the visually stunning cinematography and production design, "Murder Mubarak" is a feast for the senses.

However, amidst the drama and suspense, the film attempts to tackle social commentary, poking fun at the shallow vanities of high-society Delhi. While these moments provide some laughs, they feel a bit forced and detract from the overall enjoyment of the film.

But where "Murder Mubarak" truly shines is in its stellar cast. Sara Ali Khan and Vijay Varma steal the show with their unconventional chemistry, while Pankaj Tripathi and Karisma Kapoor deliver electrifying performances that keep the audience hooked from start to finish. And let's not forget the comedic talents of Dimple Kapadia, Tisca Chopra, and Sanjay Kapoor, who add layers of humor to the proceedings.

In the end, "Murder Mubarak" proves that a good whodunit is all about the journey, not just the destination. With its captivating plot, witty dialogue, and standout performances, this film is a must-watch for fans of the genre. So grab your popcorn, sit back, and prepare to be entertained as Homi Adajania takes you on a rollercoaster ride of mystery and mayhem.

“Murder Mubarak” is now streaming on Netflix.
