GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday joined other leaders to congratulate Donald Trump on becoming the 47th President of the United States.

“Heartiest congratulations my friend @realDonaldTrump on your historic election victory. As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership. Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability and prosperity,” Modi posted on X.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer extended congratulations to Trump on his "historic election victory," reaffirming the strength of the UK-US alliance. Starmer emphasised the enduring "special relationship" between the two nations, grounded in shared values of "freedom, democracy, and enterprise."

"As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defense of our shared values," Starmer said. He expressed confidence that the partnership would thrive in areas from economic growth and security to innovation and technology, ensuring prosperity on "both sides of the Atlantic for years to come."

"Dear Donald and Melania Trump, Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback! Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America," Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted.
