The intervention followed a tip-off received earlier in the day about the illegal marriage being arranged without the girl's consent. The minor, who had expressed a desire to continue her education, was being forced into marriage against her will.

Reports indicated that preparations for the wedding, including decorations, were already in place at the bride's residence, with the groom, approximately 30 years old, preparing for the ceremony.

The Morigaon CHL team acted swiftly to intervene and prevent the marriage, rescuing the girl before it could take place, with support from the Jaluguti Outpost police. After her rescue, the girl was taken to a temporary shelter where she is receiving the necessary support services.
