Mekhail Bora testifies against mother Indrani Mukerjea

GUWAHATI: Mekhail Bora on 23rd July testified in a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court against his mother Indrani Mukerjea in connection with the Sheena Bora murder case.

Mekhail Bora, brother of Sheena Bora, allegedly informed the court that Indrani Mukerjea got him admitted to Masina Hospital, maybe because she wanted no one to believe him if he said she was his mother, and to prove he is insane.

Deposing before Judge J.C. Jagdale, Mr. Bora said Ms. Mukerjea forced his grandparents to legally adopt him and Sheena, and when he was in Class 10, Ms. Mukerjea had called him, Sheena, and their grandparents to Kolkata.

It was around that time that Mukherjea informed her son about her marriage with Peter and her daughter with him, named Vidhi.

"Our mother also threatened us that Peter and Vidhi should never know about me and Sheana and that we should address her not as our mother, but elder sister," Mekhail further added.

“We even told her we would call her by name. But we needed her help in our education. Indrani told me since it was my vacation I could come to Mumbai and stay with them for a while. She sent me tickets and I came to Mumbai," Indrani's son informed the court.

Mekhail further said in his testimony that Ms. Mukerjea admitted him in a school in Bengaluru. Though he was reluctant to go, he studied there till the midsession of Class XI. Allegedly, when he then told her his standards did not match with hers and she should send him back to Guwahati, she instead told him to take a few days off and come to Mumbai to freshen his mind.

“I went to Mumbai and Shyamvar Rai came to receive me at the airport and took me to a hotel. Indrani asked me to stay there for the night and she would pick me up the next day. We went to the INX office at Phoenix Mall the next day, and she introduced me to Sanjeev Khanna as her client and me as her brother,” he said.

He said, “When I gained consciousness, I found myself in a closed room and my hands and legs were tied and my head was shaved. I was wearing some brown clothes. I started screaming because I was in shock. Three people, who looked like ward boys, hit me and gave me an injection. I became unconscious again. When I regained consciousnesses, the ward boys came and freed my hands. Then around six doctors came and one of them told me that my sister Indrani had admitted me to Masina hospital, on the grounds that I take drugs. He told me Indrani would come after one and a half months, and then they would decide," Mekhail said.

“I was tortured for one month confined to a room and was asked to have food with mentally ill patients. I was given electric shocks and injections, and I was kept tied. I cannot express in open court the other things they did to me. I have not touched drugs till date. I realised later that maybe Indrani wanted no one to believe me if I said she was my mother and wanted to prove I am insane,” he concluded.

Further, Mr. Bora will resume his deposition on July 24.
