Doctors in Guwahati participate in nationwide strike

GUWAHATI: Around 200-250 doctors gathered at a sit in protest/demonstration at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) against the recent violent attacks on doctors in West Bengal.
 
Teachers of the college also joined medical  students and doctors in the protest. 

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called for a day long nationwide strike and withdrawal of Out-Patient Department (OPD) services, however essential and emergency services will not be affected.

By participating in the protest, the students of GMCH are extending their solidarity for the violence on doctors in West Bengal. 

It should be noted that extending their support, doctors and students of Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) also staged a protest and took part in a demonstration at the GMCH premises on Friday, June 14.
