GUWAHATI: Social activist Medha Patkar is set to visit Guwahati tomorrow, February 18. She will meet Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader and RTI activist Akhil Gogoi at the Central Jail.
Further, social activist and Magsaysay Award winner Sandeep Pandey was also supposed to visit Gogoi in Guwahati on Wednesday. However, Pandey was arrested on Monday, February 18 in Uttar Pradesh while he was distributing anti-CAA pamphlets. However, he was later released on bail.
Akhil Gogoi was arrested under the UAPA Act and was sent to judicial custody.
It is to be mentioned that Swaraj Party leader and prominent activist Yogendra Yadav also paid a visit to Akhil Gogoi on February 14.
Talking about the ongoing anti-CAA protests across the country, he thanked people of Assam and the North-East and especially the youths for alerting the country against this Act and also initiating the protests.
