Massive Fire on Burhi Dihing River in Assam

GUWAHATI: A fire broke out on Burhi Dihing river at Tengakhat, Duliajan in Dibrugarh on Sunday due to leakage from underwater pipelines.

The fire broke out when crude oil from the Duliajan plant of Oil India Limited, came into a water pipeline that is connected to the river.

However, locals claim that accidents such as these often occur due to crude oil theft, while miscreants try to drill holes into the pipes.

The fire has been reportedly brought under control and experts are now examing the level of threat to the ecosystem because of the incident.
