GUWAHATI: A huge explosion was reported at Tinsukia’s Baghjan Oil Field today, May 27.
More than 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot from Dibrugarh, Duliajan and Tinsukia.
The massive blowout is suspected to have been caused by accumulation of gas inside the wellbore of gas well number 5 in the oil field when operational work was going on there.

All officers and staff of the oil field were said to be working at the site when the explosion took place.

The incident created panic among locals and close to 25 families and employees have been evacuated to safety.
No casualties have been recorded so far and further reports are awaited.
