Massive Eviction Drives Conducted In Jakhalabandha And Barpeta

The Kaliabor sub-divisional administration, in collaboration with Jakhalabandha police, successfully executed eviction drives in Jakhalabandha and Mandia Bazar areas, in Barpeta, clearing encroachments on footpaths and national highways.

Media reports reveal that the extensive eviction drive in Jakhalabandha was prompted by significant encroachments by a group of traders on footpaths on both sides of National Highway number 37.

The traders' encroachment on both sides of the Jakhalabandha weekly market Chikni-Barhola road was efficiently cleared during the operation, ensuring the restoration of public spaces.

The administration's stance is noteworthy, with the Jakhalabandha police playing a crucial role in supporting the eviction process. The drive was aimed at reclaiming public spaces for the benefit of commuters and residents.

Meanwhile, in the Mandia Bazar area of Assam's Barpeta District, a sweeping eviction drive was conducted on November 21. This initiative was instigated by a formal request from the Public Works Department (PWD), urging the district administration to reclaim illegally occupied land.

The eviction drive, initiated six months ago with notices issued by the Circle Officer of Baghbar Circle, resulted in the removal of occupants who had refused to vacate the land voluntarily.

The Circle Officer of Baghbar Circle responded to the PWD's request by launching a comprehensive eviction drive in Mandia Bazar. The PWD sought the assistance of the district administration to free the land from encroachment, emphasizing the importance of reclaiming public spaces for planned and organized development.
