GUWAHATI: A man lost his life after the vehicle reportedly veered off the road and plunged into a river on Wednesday night in Assam.
Reports indicate that the absence of warning signs contributed to the unfortunate accident, as expansion works for the four-lane project were underway at the time.
The victim has been identified as Bhaskar Jyoti Barman, a resident of Bamunimaidam in Guwahati, as per media reports.
Barman was an employee of the renowned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The incident occurred Wednesday night while he was en route to Jorhat in his vehicle, bearing the registration number AS 06 P 9587.
Tragically, the absence of proper warning signs led him straight into the river near the Teok area in the Jorhat district of Assam.
Preliminary findings suggest that the cause of death is consistent with drowning. However, a thorough investigation is currently underway to ascertain further details surrounding the incident.
