GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police have arrested an individual posing as a cop in Maligaon, identified as Ratul Amin, who allegedly duped several people by posing as a battalion member and selling fake land plots on Saturday, November 9.
An official from the Maligaon police outpost confirmed the incident, stating that “ An individual was arrested for impersonating a cop. Amin had prepared fraudulent land documents and collected substantial sums of money from victims.”
Amin allegedly deceived people by showing them plots of land that did not belong to him, convincing them of his legitimacy with his fabricated police identity.
The arrest was made after a complaint from a victim who alleged that Amin had shown him a plot belonging to someone else and collected Rs. 4 lakh as part of the land purchase transaction.
