Hafijul, along with his brothers Rafiqul Islam and Abdulla, has been accused of orchestrating and carrying out the killing which occurred in October 2024.

The investigation revealed that the crime was driven by ulterior motives. Rafiqul Islam, the victim’s husband, allegedly lured Ramena from Santipur to Sonamukh, where she was killed and buried near Hafijul’s residence at Latia Tokorabandha Pahar. A substantial amount of money and gold ornaments were stolen from the victim and distributed among the accused.

During interrogation, Hafijul confessed to his role in the crime and led authorities to the site where Ramena’s body was buried, helping recover key evidence.

Talking to GPlus, a police officer from Bharalumukh police station said, “We suspect the motive behind the murder to be extramarital affairs or relations. But, we are still investigating it. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem.”

Hafijul currently remains in custody for further investigation. Further details await.
