GUWAHATI: An individual has been arrested for allegedly harassing and threatening a young girl on Thursday, March 13.
A Class 9 student and her mother in Guwahati’s Kahilipara area were forced to seek police protection after facing repeated threats and intimidation from a local youth. The accused, identified as Dhanmoni Das, had allegedly been stalking and harassing the girl for a prolonged period. He had also allegedly physically assaulted her multiple times in public and even threatened an acid attack after she rejected his advances. Additionally, he allegedly issued death threats to the girl's mother, engaged in obscene gestures, and circulated edited photos of the girl on social media.
The situation escalated when Dhanmoni allegedly attempted to break into the girl’s home armed with a sharp weapon. The family also accused him of demanding money from them.
Talking to GPlus, Bhagadattapur OP said, “We have taken in Das and arrested him today.”
Authorities are now investigating the case further. Legal proceedings are underway.
