Major Cyber Fraud Racket Busted In Guwahati, Over 802 SIM Cards Recovered

 

GUWAHATI: In a significant operation conducted on Friday night, Dispur Police successfully dismantled a massive cyber fraud racket, leading to the seizure of a substantial amount of incriminating evidence and the apprehension of three individuals involved in the illegal activities.

The operation marks a major step forward in the fight against cybercrime.

During the search operation, the police recovered several objectionable items including 58 Airtel SIM cards, 3 Jio SIM cards, 107 Idea SIM cards, 634 Vodafone SIM cards, 12 different sets of mobile phones, two laptops, two memory cards (32 GB and 8 GB), 10 ATM cards, and 5 stamps from different colleges located in Bihar, Bangalore, and Assam.

Additionally, 239 GPay UPI scanners were also seized, further exposing the scale of the criminal operation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sheikhuddin, Inzamamul Islam, and Wakibul Islam.

Sheikhuddin and Inzamamul are residents of Morigaon, while Wakibul hails from South Salmara-Mankachar district, informed the police official. 

In addition to the aforementioned items, the police also seized college stamps, a printer, photo papers, college mark sheets, and documents from various educational institutions.

While talking to G Plus, ACP Dispur Police Station said that further investigation is going on to get to the source of these illicit activities.

The trio has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), signalling the authorities' firm stance against cybercriminals.
