GUWAHATI: A Mumbai-based manager, Manav Sharma, recently died by suicide in Agra, citing marital harassment from his wife. Before taking the extreme step, he recorded a video in which he expressed loneliness and urged society to recognise the struggles faced by men. The police have launched an investigation following a complaint from his family.

Sharma, who reportedly worked as a Senior Process Associate at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), was found dead under circumstances that have now sparked a debate on mental health and alleged marital distress.
His wife, Nikita Sharma, however, has reportedly denied the allegations, claiming that her husband struggled with alcohol addiction and had also attempted suicide multiple times in the past.
“He used to drink excessively and had self-harmed several times before,” Nikita reportedly stated. “I saved him many times, even after he assaulted me under the influence of alcohol. I had informed my in-laws, but they dismissed my concerns, saying it was a private matter between a husband and wife.”
She further alleged that she had alerted Manav’s family, including his parents and sister, about his condition on the day of his death, fearing he might take an extreme step. “People also need to listen to my side of the story,” she reportedly added.
Before his death, Sharma had recorded a one-minute, 57-second video, which was later discovered by his family. In the emotional clip, he was seen crying and repeatedly appealing for people to “think and talk about men” while apologising to his parents.
The case has drawn parallels with the recent suicide of Bengaluru automobile company employee Atul Subhash, who also left behind a suicide note alleging harassment by his wife.
