LS Elections 2024: 904 Candidates To Contest In Phase 7 Across 8 States/UTs

GUWAHATI: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that 904 candidates will contest in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, scheduled for June 1. This phase will see polling across 57 parliamentary constituencies (PCs) in eight states and union territories (UTs).

A total of 2105 nomination forms were filed for these 57 PCs. Following scrutiny, 954 nominations were deemed valid, and after withdrawals, 904 candidates remain in the fray.

Punjab topped the list with the highest number of nominations, with 598 forms filed across its 13 constituencies. Uttar Pradesh followed with 495 nominations for its 13 PCs.

Below is a detailed breakdown of the states and UTs involved:

•    Bihar: 8 PCs, 372 nominations, 138 valid, 134 contesting
•    Chandigarh: 1 PC, 33 nominations, 20 valid, 19 contesting
•    Himachal Pradesh: 4 PCs, 80 nominations, 40 valid, 37 contesting
•    Jharkhand: 3 PCs, 153 nominations, 55 valid, 52 contesting
•    Odisha: 6 PCs, 159 nominations, 69 valid, 66 contesting
•    Punjab: 13 PCs, 598 nominations, 353 valid, 328 contesting
•    Uttar Pradesh: 13 PCs, 495 nominations, 150 valid, 144 contesting
•    West Bengal: 9 PCs, 215 nominations, 129 valid, 124 contesting
