Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Second Phase Records 60.96% Voter Turnout

GUWAHATI: The second phase of General Elections 2024 on April 26 recorded a voter turnout of approximately 60.96% across 88 parliamentary constituencies (PCs) as of 7 PM. Voters from 13 States and Union Territories (UTs) participated enthusiastically, braving hot weather conditions to cast their votes. This phase marks the completion of voting in 14 States/UTs for the General Elections 2024.

Webcasting was conducted in over 1 lakh polling stations. Special arrangements were made to combat the heat, including providing shamiyana (canopies), drinking water, medical kits, and fans.

In some constituencies, such as Banka, Madhepura, Khagaria, and Munger in Bihar, polling time was extended till 6 PM to accommodate voters amid the heat. Voters from 46 villages in Bastar and Kanker parliamentary constituencies in Chhattisgarh had the opportunity to vote in polling booths set up in their villages for the first time in a Lok Sabha election.
