GUWAHATI: The Congress Election Screening Committee for Assam and the All India Congress Committee (AICC) is yet to finalise the names of candidates in most of the seats. According to sources, the first list for Assam will be released on 13th, Wednesday.
Intense lobbying for candidates by senior leaders has put pressure on the Congress high command due to which it is getting delayed.
According to sources, the announcement for Barpeta, Mangaldoi and Gauhati Lok Sabha seats will get further delayed as there is a tug-of-war for these seats among MLAs and senior functionaries and the AICC is undecided for now.
On March 7, AICC had released the names of 15 selected candidates from Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh that had Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi as candidates from UP.
