GUWAHATI: Repeated power cuts in some parts of the city have added to the woes of Guwahatians amidst the lockdown.

The power cuts have resulted from the heavy storm which lashed the city on April 9 and caused heavy damage to the power lines and transformers in different parts of the state.

As a precautionary measure, power was snapped in most localities of the city on April 9. However, post that, some areas have continued to face power cuts and fluctuations as restoration work for the same is ongoing, as per Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL).

“The storm resulted in a lot of infrastructure damage and many poles were uprooted too. Currently we are conducting restoration work across the state in places where the lines were damaged,” Priyom Dutta, PRO, APDCL told G Plus.

She added that the authorities are trying to complete the restoration work at the earliest.

However, the prediction of further rains might interrupt or delay the process.
