Large Cache Of Arms and Ammunition Seized Near Indo-Myanmar Border

GUWAHATI: The Assam Rifles intercepted a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and other war-like stores near the Indo-Myanmar Border in Mon district of Nagaland on Monday, April 29. The operation, carried out following specific intelligence inputs, resulted in the apprehension of one person and the recovery of a substantial cache of military-grade weaponry and equipment.

The early morning search operation led to the discovery of a wide range of arms and ammunition, including 11 mortar tubes (81mm), 4 tubes (106mm), 10 pistols, 198 hand-held radio sets, a satellite phone, a Kenbo bike, an SUV vehicle, and other war-like stores.

The apprehended individual and the recovered arms and ammunition have been handed over to the Nagaland Police.

In a separate incident, Assam Rifles, in conjunction with Mizoram Police, recovered 453 grams of heroin No. 4 valued at approximately ₹3.17 crores in the Melbuk Road area of Zokhawthar, Champhai District, Mizoram, also on April 29, 2024. One person was apprehended in connection with the seizure.
