GUWAHATI: A nurse at Aaduru Primary Health Centre in Karnataka’s Haveri district allegedly treated a deep wound on a seven-year-old boy’s face using superglue instead of medical sutures.

The incident occurred when the child sustained a gash on his cheek while playing. His family rushed him to the Aaduru Primary Health Centre, where the nurse applied Fevikwik instead of following standard medical procedures.
She reportedly claimed that the adhesive would prevent scarring on the boy’s face.
Shocked by the treatment, the parents recorded a video of the incident and lodged a formal complaint with the Health Protection Committee of the centre. However, defending her actions, the nurse stated, “I treated the child to the best of my knowledge. If the family had objected to Fevikwik, I would have referred the case elsewhere.”
Following the uproar, District Health Officer Rajesh Suragihalli initiated an inquiry. While he ordered the nurse's transfer to Guttal Health Centre in Haveri Taluk, he did not suspend her despite calls for strict action.
The inquiry has been initiated to determine whether further disciplinary measures are warranted.
