Kamatapur Liberation Organisation Urges Expedition Of Peace Talks

GUWAHATI: The Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) has made a fervent appeal to both the central government and the state administration to expedite the ongoing peace negotiations, as per reports.

The leaders of KLO have reportedly stressed the urgency of concluding the peace talks between their organisation and the central government along with the Assam state authorities.

As part of their demands, KLO has called for the dismissal of all charges against Jeevan Singha, the chairman of the outfit, and other members, reports stated.

They assert that granting formal pardons is essential to facilitate a smooth transition into a peace accord.

Additionally, KLO has advocated for the establishment of a distinct state known as Kamatapur, which would be carved out from sections of Assam and West Bengal.

KLO has also requested the inclusion of the Kamatapuri language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, along with due recognition.

Furthermore, the organisation has pressed for the inclusion of the Koch Rajbongshi community within the ambit of reservations under the Scheduled Tribes (Plain) category.

The plea for the swift conclusion of peace talks comes in the wake of reports suggesting that Jeevan Singha is poised to re-enter the mainstream political arena.
