GUWAHATI: Kamal Chawla has won the gold medal in the men's category at the IBSF World 6Red Snooker Championships 2024. He defeated Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal 6-2 in the final held at the MBA Snooker Academy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Wednesday, September 25. This victory is an important achievement for Chawla, who was the runner-up in 2017.

Chawla started the match slowly, losing the first two frames with scores of 23-47 and 18-47. However, he made a strong comeback by winning six consecutive frames (71-0, 41-7, 64-0, 43-0, 33-20, 36-29) to secure the championship.
In addition to Chawla’s success, India earned three bronze medals in the tournament. Malkeet Singh won bronze in the men's category after losing to Iqbal in the semifinals (0-6).
In the women’s category, Vidya Pillai secured bronze after losing to Hong Kong’s Ng On Yee (2-4) in the semifinals. Additionally, Keerthana Pandian took home a bronze medal after losing 0-4 to Fong Mei Mei of Hong Kong in her semifinal match.
