GUWAHATI: As Ambubachi Mela has begun in full swing, the main doors of Kamakhya temple is all set to close tonight, June 22 for the goddess’ menstruation period as it is believed that she becomes unclean for three days.
The ‘prabitti’ or closing of the doors that marks the beginning of the menstruation cycle of Maa Kamakhya will take place at 01:32:26 am on June 23, while ‘nibritti’ or ending of the cycle will occur at 01:57:02 pm on June 26.

The ongoing Ambubachi mela is the most important festival of Kamakhya temple and has visitors from multiple countries attending the five-day grand festival when Devi Kamakhya or Mother Shakti goes through her annual cycle of menstruation.
