GUWAHATI: JioStar, the newly formed joint venture following the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, announced the launch of JioHotstar on Friday, February 14, integrating JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar into a single streaming platform.

The move has been taken to consolidate premium sports and entertainment content under one service. “When two worlds come together, the extraordinary takes shape,” JioStar posted on X to reveal the OTT platform’s new logo.
Under the new venture, the platform will offer nearly three lakh hours of entertainment, live sports coverage, and cater to over 50 crore users.
Kiran Mani, CEO of Digital, JioStar, reportedly stated that the platform’s vision is to make premium entertainment widely accessible. With AI-driven recommendations and content available in over 19 languages, the company aims to finetune personalisation for viewers.
The service will also introduce new subscription plans, starting at ₹149, catering to diverse audience preferences. Existing subscribers of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar will be transitioned seamlessly to JioHotstar.
The new platform is expected to include a mix of Hollywood content, Indian shows and movies, and an extensive sports catalogue.
