Japan And Peru To Partner With Nagaland For Hornbill Festival 2024

 

GUWAHATI: Japan was confirmed as the next country partner for the upcoming 10-day Hornbill Festival, set to take place at Kisama near Kohima from December 1.

The announcement came following a meeting between Nagaland's Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, his Cabinet colleagues, and senior state officials with Takashi Ariyoshi, Deputy Chief of Mission, and Mayumi Tsubakimoto, First Secretary at the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi, on Tuesday, November 19.

As part of the partnership, Japan is expected to contribute to various sectors, including cultural performances, capacity-building initiatives, and workshops on handicrafts and bamboo products. 

Chief Minister Rio expressed his excitement over the collaboration on Twitter, stating, "Happy to announce Japan as Country Partner for Hornbill Festival 2024. Met Mr. Takashi Ariyoshi & Ms. Mayumi Tsubakimoto from @JapaninIndia. Japan will participate in cultural & musical performances, & conduct workshops on handicrafts. I hope this will further strengthen ties."

On Wednesday, November 20, Rio also announced Peru's participation, tweeting, "Happy to announce Peru as Country Partner for Hornbill Festival 2024. Met H.E. Mr. Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde from @EmbaPeruIndia. Peruvian artistes and cultural performers will participate in various events. I am confident the partnership will strengthen bilateral ties."
