Jaish-e-Mohammed leader Masood Azhar listed as Global Terrorist by UN

GUWAHATI: The United Nations Security Council designated Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist after China lifted its hold on a proposal to blacklist him under the Security Council's Sanctions Committee.

Hours after the UN move, the Pakistani media quoted the country's foreign office as saying that it will "immediately enforce UN sanctions" imposed on Azhar.

It is to be mentioned that Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) carried out a suicide bombing in February 2019 killing several troops in Indian-administered Kashmir.

India hailed it as a diplomatic victory.
