ISRO To Launch Proba-3 Mission On December 4 To Study Sun's Corona

 

GUWAHATI: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to launch the European Space Agency's (ESA) Proba-3 mission on Wednesday, December 4, using its PSLV-C59 launch vehicle. The mission aims to demonstrate precise formation flying.

The launch will take place from the First Launch Pad (FLP) at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, at 4:08 pm. Enthusiasts can watch the event either in person, with public registrations available for viewing at the Sriharikota gallery, or online.

Proba-3, an In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) mission, will feature two spacecraft: the Coronagraph Spacecraft (CSC) and the Occulter Spacecraft (OSC). The two spacecraft will be launched together in a stacked configuration to study the Sun’s corona. Facilitated by ISRO's commercial arm, NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), this mission marks a milestone in international space collaborations.
