ISRO Loses Contact With Chandrayaan 2

GUWAHATI: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) lost contact with the Vikarma Lander and Pragyan rover minutes before its scheduled landing.

India’s unmanned moon mission Chnadrayaan-2 was about to land on the moon and lakhs of Indians were waiting for it to land with bated breath. However, the ISRO lost contact with the lander when it was only 2.1 kilometers above the surface of the moon during the early hours of Saturday.

Confirming this, ISRO tweeted: “This is Mission Control Centre. #VikramLander descent was as planned and normal performance was observed up to an altitude of 2.1 km. Subsequently, communication from Lander to the ground stations was lost. Data is being analyzed. #ISRO”

However, the Chandrayaan 2 orbiter is orbiting the moon successfully.
