The five-day Intra Regional Sports Meet (IRSM) - Football 2024-25 of NTPC Eastern Region-II, held at NTPC Bongaigaon’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium, concluded on April 5. The event commenced on April 1 and was inaugurated by Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon, in the presence of senior officials, employees, and participants.
Four teams participated in the tournament — NTPC Bongaigaon (Assam), NTPC Darlipali, NTPC Talcher Thermal, and NTPC Talcher Kaniha (Odisha), following a round-robin format.
In his inaugural address, Maitra highlighted the importance of IRSM in promoting camaraderie, togetherness, and team spirit among employees, describing it as a platform for nurturing better professionals and individuals.
The opening ceremony included a march passed by the participating teams, a torch-lighting ceremony led by Shri Nabajit Saikia and the team captains, and the unveiling of the tournament mascot “Puhor,” inspired by Assam’s one-horned rhinoceros. It also featured the unveiling of the winning trophy, a Fair Play Pledge administered by Maitra, and a Fitness Pledge led by Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon. School children welcomed the teams with traditional greetings, followed by a Bagurumba dance performance by a local troupe.
NTPC Bongaigaon secured a commanding 6-0 victory over NTPC Darlipali, while NTPC Talcher Kaniha dominated NTPC Talcher Thermal with a resounding 17-0 win.
