International Smuggler Nabbed At Guwahati Airport

GUWAHATI: A smuggler from Kauderes, Jakarta was apprehended by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on Tuesday, May 14 at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), for alleged possession of cocaine.

The accused has been identified as Reinhard Sirait, aged 33. According to media reports, the consignment was being smuggled by the mule through body packing and body stuffing which involves- swallowing drug-filled packets (balloons) or placing them in body cavities to evade detection by law enforcement. 

As per reports from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), a total of 36 such pellets were extracted from the body of the accused. The size of each pellet turns out to be approximately 10 grams. Another 50 gms was surgically removed from his anus.
