GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police apprehended a burglary suspect on Wednesday, November 20, in relation to a break-in at a residence in Ananda Nagar, Adabari Tiniali. The burglary had occurred at House No. 6, Lane No. 3, when the occupants were not present at the time of the incident.

Acting swiftly on the following complaint, Jalukbari Police reached the spot around 4 PM and began investigating the matter. After gathering intelligence, the authorities apprehended a suspect identified as Raj Khan, son of Imam Khan, from Santosh Nagar, Thane, Maharashtra.
During the interrogation, Khan revealed that he arrived in Guwahati from Kolkata via the Bibek Express, disembarking at Guwahati Railway Station. He also confessed to conducting reconnaissance with an accomplice from West Bengal to identify unattended houses.
Once certain a property was vacant, the two suspects would execute the burglary. Tools like screwdrivers and rods, typically used for breaking locks, were recovered from Khan’s possession, while he further disclosed being released from Dumdum Central Jail in West Bengal for a narcotics-related offence just 20 days ago.
The police are continuing their investigation and searching for Khan's accomplice at the moment.
