Intense heat has gripped Guwahati and its surrounding areas. The evening rain spells which were partly a nuisance seem to be over for now.

No relief came to Guwahatians even on Sunday as the temperature soared up to a maximum of 37.6 degrees Celsius and left residents high and dry. The temperature recorded on Sunday was 5 degrees over the normal. The humidity which hovers at around 80% was at 58% which made the heat ‘dry’.

Guwahati resident, Nipa Borah commenting on the intense heat said, “It is getting hotter every day and today being a Sunday we have not dared to venture out. This heat is not good for our kids as it dehydrates you very fast and gives a burning sensation. Hope the rains are going to be back like last month when we had a very cool weather throughout.”

Well the good news is as per the weather reports it is going to start getting cloudy and raining from Monday onwards and if the reports hold ground the coming weekend will be a wet one.

So get ready for a rainy week ahead!
