Inland Water Transport Projects Worth Over ₹250 Crore To Be Inaugurated In Guwahati 

 

GUWAHATI: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, is set to inaugurate a series of pivotal projects totaling over ₹254 crore at the Pandu Port in Guwahati on February 20. 

These projects mark a step towards revitalising the Inland Water Transport (IWT) sector and enhancing connectivity in the Northeast.

The inauguration ceremony will witness the unveiling of several key projects, including the Passenger-cum-Cargo Terminal at Bogibeel valued at ₹46.60 crore, the Inland Water Transport Terminal at Sonamura worth ₹6.91 crore, and upgraded terminals at Karimganj and Badarpur totaling ₹6.40 crore. 

Additionally, Sonowal will announce the construction of six jetties along the River Brahmaputra, amounting to ₹8.45 crore, and the procurement of 19 passenger vessels for National Waterway-2 and National Waterway-16, valued at ₹25 crore.

Furthermore, projects such as the Extension of Jetty, Integrated Office, and Bank Protection, worth ₹30 crore, will also be unveiled during the ceremony. The foundation stone for the IWAI Dhubri Office Complex, valued at ₹7.50 crore for Immigration and Customs, will also be laid during the event.
