Led by Captain Rohit Sharma, the 15-member squad features the addition of Virat Kohli, thus marking a significant boost for the team's lineup.

The Ajit Agarkar-led national selection committee announced the squad on Tuesday, April 30.

Among the highlights of the squad announcement is the comeback of Yuzvendra Chahal and the maiden World Cup call-up for Shivam Dube, injecting fresh energy into India's campaign.

Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant have been named as the designated wicketkeepers, while Hardik Pandya assumes the role of vice-captain.

The spin department sees reinforcement with the inclusion of Axar Patel, complementing the trio of Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Chahal.

In the pace department, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the charge, supported by Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj.

Additionally, the BCCI revealed a list of four reserve players – Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed – who will accompany the squad. The first batch of players is scheduled to depart for the USA on May 21.

One of the key decisions involved the selection of the wicketkeeper-batsman position, with Samson earning his place alongside Pant, impressing with his performances for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. This decision sidelined contenders like KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan.

The squad welcomes back hard-hitting batter Dube, who showcased his prowess in the IPL, and the experienced leg-spinner Chahal, adding depth and versatility to the team's lineup. However, notable exclusions include Gill and Rinku Singh, who find themselves among the reserves.

Despite challenges, India is gearing up for the T20 World Cup, commencing on June 2, with their opening match against Ireland on June 5 in New York.

The team aims to overcome obstacles and strive for success in this highly anticipated tournament.
