India To Celebrate First National Space Day On August 23

GUWAHATI: India will celebrate its first National Space Day on Friday, August 23, with the theme, "Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga." The event will also provide Indian youth with information about opportunities in the space sector.

This date marks the anniversary of India’s historic achievement when Chandrayaan-III successfully landed on the south side of the Moon, making India the fourth country to land on the moon and the first to reach its southern polar region.

The central government officially declared August 23 as National Space Day to commemorate the success of the Chandrayaan-III mission. 

The main event of NSpD-2024 will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
