GUWAHATI: In a nail-biting encounter, India emerged victorious in the U-19 Cricket World Cup semi-final, chasing down a challenging target set by South Africa. Opting to chase for the first time in the tournament, India faced early setbacks as South Africa's bowlers impressed, but a remarkable partnership between Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas turned the tide.

South Africa, having opted to bat first, posted a decent total despite a mid-innings slowdown. Tristan Luus starred with the ball, claiming crucial wickets and leaving India struggling at 32/4. However, Saharan and Dhas showcased resilience, steering India back into contention.

Despite the Proteas managing to break the partnership, India's middle-order, led by skipper Raj Limbani, held their nerve. Mixing thoughtful running with aggressive strokes, Saharan and Dhas brought India within touching distance of the target. With the scores level, Limbani secured the winning runs off the second last ball of the 49th over.

Earlier, South Africa's innings saw a fiery start from Steve Stolk, but the spinners, led by Musheer Khan, slowed down the scoring rate. Richard Seletswane and Oliver Whitehead attempted to revive the innings, but late strikes from Naman Tiwari and Limbani limited South Africa to 244/7.

India's thrilling victory sets the stage for an exciting final in the U-19 Cricket World Cup against either Australia or Pakistan at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni, South Africa.
