Falling under the S-5 student visa category, this initiative aims to support academic projects, post-doctoral research, fellowships, and training programs, enhancing global collaboration in academia and innovation.
“The G20 Talent Visa under the S-5 sub-category of student visas will enable scholars, researchers, and academicians from G20 countries to enter India for projects, training, post-doctoral research, and fellowships,” shared an official statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs. “Higher Education Institutions are requested to share this information widely among their stakeholders.”
The G20 Talent Visa provides an opportunity for international academics to present their research, participate in fellowships, and engage in specialised training programs in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously outlined India’s ambition to strengthen its scientific and technological capabilities at the G20 summit held in September, and this decision in welcoming top-tier talent is seen as a part of that initiative.
