IIT Guwahati And Mizoram University Sign MoU To  Develop Joint Teaching Programmes

GUWAHATI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has signed an MoU with Mizoram University to develop joint teaching programmes. IIT G will also cooperate in Research and Development (R&D) activities besides promoting student exchange programmes.

Both the institutions will be encouraging contact and cooperation among their faculty members, departments and research facilities. The joint teaching programmes will be facilitated through visits of faculty members to deliver lectures, seminars, discussions and research. Students will also attend courses offered by the partner institutions and collaborate in research projects.

Highlighting the unique aspects of this collaboration, Director of IIT Guwahati Prof TG Sitharam said, “This is a memorable day for both the institutions to advance research and academic collaborations and emerge as winners, which will serve the larger cause of Northeast India”.

“Signing this MoU is an important step in advancing the relationship of both the institutes and providing a valuable opportunity for the students of Mizoram University, and facilitating cooperation in teaching and research in areas of mutual interest. It will help the students to get exposure in advanced instrumentation, and facilities available at IIT G. Students will also have good scopes and opportunities to fulfill their academic zeal.” Vice-Chancellor of Mizoram University, Prof KRS Sambasiva Rao said.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Dean (Outreach Education Programme) Prof AS Achalkumar, Prof KRS Sambasiva Rao of IIT Guwahati, and Associate Professor of Department of Chemistry of Mizoram University Dr N Mohondas Singh.
