GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at the Supreme Court of India today and said that if Sudama had offered rice to Lord Krishna today and if he had accepted, the Supreme Court would have termed it as ‘corruption’.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Kalki Dham temple in Sambhal at Uttar Pradesh today on February 19 when he made these remarks.
“...The time has changed so much that in today's era, if Sudama had given rice to Shri Krishna in a bundle, the video would have come out, there would have been a PIL in the Supreme Court and the judgment would have come that Lord Krishna was given something in corruption and Lord Krishna was doing corruption...,” he said in his address.

Last week on February 15, the Supreme Court has passed a judgement banning electoral bonds, calling it unconstitutional as it violated Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India because of its anonymous nature goes against the Right to Information and therefore against free speech and expression guaranteed in the Indian Constitution.
