IAF’s Eastern Air Command To Launch Operations In 6 Airfields Including Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Eastern Air Command (EAC) of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has begun operations from six airfields in five states, including Guwahati in Assam as part of its operations. 

The six airfields comprise Guwahati in Assam, Dimapur in Nagaland, Imphal in Manipur, Kolkata and Andal in West Bengal and Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. 

The SU 30 MKi and the Hawk 132 aircrafts are being used for the exercise. 

These exercises are part of a capability building, operational training programme from dispersed locations, in case of hostilities and is also an initiative to familiarize civilian functionaries at these airfields in the conduct of military operations. 

Based on reports, the exercise will be conducted in two phases. The first phase which began on Wednesday, October 16 will continue until Saturday, October 19 and the second phase of the exercise will be conducted from October 29 to November 1, 2019.
