GUWAHATI: In order to boost its capacity of deploying troops and machines in remote areas like the Indo-China border, the Indian Air Force inducted the American Chinook heavy lift choppers at the Mohanbari Air Base in Assam’s Dibrugarh.
The Chinooks were deployed for operations for the first time on May 28, in Arunachal Pradesh’s Vijaynagar sector to deliver 8.3 tonnes of essential commodities in remote areas of the state surrounded by Myanmar.
American Chinook Heavy-Lift Helicopters are said to be one of the finest choppers for inter-valley troop transfer operations.
