Assam Education Minister took to X, announcing the same, stating, “Due to reports of question paper leak and breach of protocol, the remaining subjects of HS First Year Examination 2025 (scheduled from 24–29 March) stand cancelled. Further action will be decided in the Board meeting on 24 March.”
The issue came to light after allegations surfaced regarding the leakage of the mathematics question paper. Inspectors of Schools and Principals of Lead Colleges had returned sealed question paper packets as per board instructions. However, reports revealed that some institutions opened these packets prematurely on March 20, despite the mathematics exam being scheduled for the second session of March 21.
The board has presumed that the integrity of other subjects' question papers may also be compromised. With all papers currently in the custody of various institutions across the state, the possibility of further leaks could not be ruled out. Consequently, the board has decided to cancel the examinations for the remaining subjects with immediate effect.
“The further course of action will be intimated to all concerned, in accordance with the decision to be taken in the Board meeting to be held on 24/03/2025,” the order issued by ASSEB stated.
