Hostel to be built for NE students in JNU, Delhi

GUWAHATI: A hostel will be built for students from the northeast at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), announced Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent charge) Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER).

According to a report by Daily Excelisor, the hostel is scheduled to have 224 rooms to accommodate 424 students and 24 rooms will be assigned to specially-abled students. 

Equal rooms will be allotted to both boys and girls.

Dr. Singh mentioned that Rs. 11 crore has been released for this project.

The tendering process has been set in motion by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and Dr. Singh has instructed all authorities that the hostel should be functional within the next two years. 

The authorities mentioned that the four-storied complex will be build on a land of approximately 1.5 acre.

It should be noted that this will be a first-of-its-kind hostel in JNU's campus.
