Hospitality Services, Malls to Resume Operations from June 8

GUWAHATI: From 8th June, the Assam government has permitted the reopening of hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services and also that of shopping malls.

However, all hospitality services are to maintain just 50 percent of their total capacity. Till 8th June, the restaurants had only been permitted to allow take away  and home delivery services. But as per the new guidelines, regular business can be commenced from next Monday.

Also shopping malls will reopen for the first time ever since the lockdown.

The new Assam Government guidelines strictly mention the observance of social distancing by these businesses. 

"These guidelines shall be enforced by District Magistrates through fines and penal action as prescribed in Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC and other legal provisions," stated the order issued on 1st June.
