GUWAHATI: Reacting to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's claim of providing around 12 lakh jobs in Delhi while addressing a rally in Guwahati on Sunday, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that one should not lie in the land of Maa Kamakhya.
In Sunday's rally, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) national convenor criticised the Assam Chief Minister on several issues.
"Why does the Chief Minister of Delhi boast that he has given 12 lakh jobs to unemployed youth in Delhi when the total number of posts authorised by the Delhi government is approximately 1.5 lakhs?" questioned Sarma.
"Since lying is typically considered sinful in the land of Maa Kamakhya, I implore the Chief Minister of Delhi to refrain from doing so," Sarma added.
Terming Kejriwal a "coward", Sarma further said, "Kejriwal did not bring up the fabricated corruption allegations he made against me in the Delhi Assembly today in Guwahati because his loose conscience would not allow him to get in trouble by speaking lies."
The Assam chief minister stated that he would write to Kejriwal asking him about the break-up of the 12.5 lakhs-sanctioned Delhi government positions.
After accepting Kejriwal's offer for tea, Sarma said he would travel to Delhi to examine the AAP administration's development projects.
"I have seen Delhi's ugliest 'Jhopris' during election campaigns. Compared to Delhi, our Assam is heaven. In Delhi, approximately sixty per cent of the population is damned to hell, with no access to water or electricity. Delhi's Assam House is not the actual city. I accept his offer to take us on a tour of Delhi, but I'll go to the locations where Kejriwal won't. Just set up some facilities to visit those locations; I'd rather use Google Maps," Sarma added.
The Assam chief minister dared his Delhi counterpart to respond to his written questions within ten days.
