GUWAHATI: In the ongoing battle against the menace of drug trafficking, a team from the West Guwahati Police District, operating out of the Jalukbari Outpost, successfully apprehended two alleged drug peddlers on November 24.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Pankaj Barman and Safik Ali, both hailing from Hajo.
The arrests were made following the recovery of 19 vials containing a substance suspected to be heroin, with a total weight of 2.59 grams. The operation took place in the vicinity of the New Saraighat Bridge.
Police Commissionerate Guwahati took to Facebook to put out a statement, which read, “#WarOnDrugs A WGPD team from Jalukbari OP arrested 2 peddlers - Pankaj Barman & Safik Ali, both from Hajo - after recovering 19 vials of suspected Heroin, weighing 2.59 gms, from their possession near the New Saraighat Bridge. Legal action initiated.”
Legal actions have been initiated against the apprehended suspects as part of the ongoing war on drugs.
