GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Jal Board announced a new set of areas that will be connected with the JICA-assisted Guwahati Water Supply and has urged residents, institutions, housing societies, and apartments to apply for the new water supply connection.

Only online applications will be accepted via the GMDWSB website, https://gmdwsb.in, and the Guwahati Jal Board mobile app.

•    Only the residents of the earmarked areas will be eligible for consumer registration in the first phase of the implementation of the project. The available Area and Sub-Area have to be selected and the accurate GPS location of the consumer’s property has to be pinned on an online map where the earmarked areas for the JICA water supply will be highlighted. Only consumers with properties in the highlighted area will be eligible for application.

•    In the online application, prospective applicants will select the category of their property as Domestic or Non-Domestic. Domestic consumers would be households, central, state- or privately-owned apartments or premises for domestic purposes like cooking, washing, drinking, gardening, cleaning, toilets, etc.

•    The non-Domestic category will include govt consumers, institutions, commercial consumers, industrial consumers, and consumers using water facilities in hospitals. The online application form requires the applicant’s identity, contact and property details, and relevant documents confirming the same.

•    Once these details are filled up, the applicant will need to tick on an “I Agree” checkbox to accept the declaration and undertaking and then click on “Upload Data”. The applicant will then receive an SMS from the GMDWSB and an application number will be generated. One can log in using their registered mobile number and pay the application fee of Rs 500 online. Once the payment is made, the applicant can keep checking the status of their application by logging in to the app or website using their registered mobile number.

•    After the application fee is received, the GMDWSB will check if the applicant’s property is located within the earmarked areas mentioned above and will confirm or reject the application accordingly. Once the application is approved, an applicant will have to pay the installation fee on the mobile app or website as per the charges mentioned in the tariff plan.

•    The “Pay Connection Charge” tab will be activated for all approved connections. Once the installation payment is made, the applicant will receive a payment confirmation SMS and a connection will be provided within 21 working days.
