Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra has been appointed as the state's brand tourism ambassador by the Assam Government, for two years. Making the announcement, state finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Priyanka Chopra would visit Guwahati and attend a tour operators meet on December 24th, and engage in shoots for TV commercials and still photos for a massive Assam tourism campaign for Assam for the next two years. "She is coming to Guwahati on Dec 24th, when Priyanka will formaly be appointed as the brand ambassador of Assam Tourism," Himanta Biswa Sarma said. The minister also said that the two year agreement with Priyanka will be "free of cost." "The agreement does not have any cost. We'll only have to pay her during shooting and the print advertisements as she will do so by leaving aside other work," he said. Sarma also said that Assam would go global in its campaign to attract tourists to the state. "We are this time not restricting our tourism campaign only within the country. Instead, we are going for a massive global campaign, particularly targetting tourists in the US, England, Japan, and other such countries that have some connection with Assam," the minister said.
